The Anchor Housing village concept focuses on the provision of independent retirement dwellings with domiciliary care tailored to suit the needs of the individual. The village centre is a hub for the provision of care as well as offering residents the opportunity to be part of a community of like-minded people who enjoy retirement living.
In 2010, Anchor – England’s largest not-for-profit housing association – decided to hold a competition for the design of a model retirement village centre and sent out a complex, challenging brief to a number of architectural practices. Shown here is the competition-winning scheme designed by Richard and the specialist retirement housing architects at RMA.
Location: Sapcote, Leicestershire
