Specialist retirement housing architect RMA has recently gained an outline planning permission, for which there was unanimous approval, for the regeneration of an oil depot site on the edge of Ramsgate. The five-acre site enjoys spectacular views of the Kent coast and, on a good day, of France.

RMA is now working on a full application for a revised, state-of-the-art, intergenerational scheme with a 61-flat extra care development, 42 affordable family houses grouped around three play-spaces, and 14 retirement bungalows. The extra care scheme includes care and support for the residents, a base for the provision of outreach care and a shop, hair salon, meeting spaces and other community facilities for the village.
